Class A

Favorite: Peekskill. The Red Devils have won the last four sectional titles and are the heaviest of favorites in all classes.

Challenger: Lakeland. The Hornets have all the pieces to contend with Peekskill, led by rapidly improving point guard Gary Austin.

Best first-round game: No. 12 Tappan Zee at No. 5 Pearl River. Does it get any better than this? Two rivals on a Friday night in the playoffs. Arrive early.

Cinderella: Harrison. The 14th-seeded Huskies are making their first playoff appearance in five seasons, and face rival Rye in the opening round.

Upset special: No. 10 Kennedy over No. 7 Pelham. Pelham upset Kennedy in the first round last season, so the Gaels are eager to return the favor.

MVP candidates: Daquan Brickhouse, Peekskill; Lavor Morris, Lakeland; Ralph Watts, Peekskill

County Center-bound: Peekskill, Lourdes, Rye, Lakeland

Championship: Peekskill over Lakeland
